Maryanne J. George is a 5x GRAMMY award-winning recording artist, songwriter, musician, and worship leader. She has cultivated a dynamic career in the music industry, with a focus on creating spaces for spiritual encounters through worship.
Originally from New York, Maryanne grew up in a culturally diverse environment as a child of immigrants, where music played an integral role in her upbringing. Her musical journey began at the age of four when she learned to play the violin. She later taught herself piano, guitar, and vocals, eventually serving as worship director at Cornerstone Church, her home church in Hicksville, NY.
Throughout her career, Maryanne has built a dedicated following through performances on social media platforms and leading worship at various events. She is most notably known as a former member of Maverick City Music, a collective committed to challenging norms within the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) and Gospel genres. As part of this group, she has contributed to multiple albums, tours, and award-winning projects. She is the recipient of multiple Stellar Awards and a BMI award.
In October 2021, George released her debut EP, Not Just Stories, which centers on themes of worship, devotion, and sacrifice. The album, which charted nationally, reflects her personal faith journey and artistic evolution. In May 2024, she released her highly anticipated single, Labor, surrounding her experience as a mother. Maryanne currently resides in Dallas, TX, where she continues to lead worship and write music for herself, the global Church and beyond.
